There is no discussion of OC height on single vision lenses, and worse as this measurment applies to aspheric lenses. Just returned from Opticon (dont know what that is ? then please look it up now!) The overreaching message in advanced optician training is for excellence through accurate measuring. Even if you are not an advanced certified optician or have all of the resources to take advance measurments (aka you work for one of the large discount retailers selling glasses) this can be approached if you understand very basic goals and the rational in taking these measurements. Too often they are skipped in the name of efficiency or just pressured to hurry by uninformed management.(dont forget who is holding the ABO certification and (hopefully licence). With clearer universal understanding and support this doesnt have to take much more time for considerably better performance and customer satisfaction.. The global word I got at Opticon was mono Pd both near and far and either mono seg or mono OC -- the OC adjusted one mm down for every 2 degrees panto and/or panto likewise adjusted for patient's useage generally about 8 to 10 degrees. If someone tells you readers dont need OC height you will know much more about them than they know about fitting glasses! Where is this discussion ? Other things are quite helpful and I fully believe the more one keeps reading and comparing perspectives the better; so do buy this book and read, but dont take it as the end all. Dont stop thinking for yourself and keep perfecting and keep asking questions.
