Power Hammers: Using the Ultimate Sheet Metal Fabrication Tool
Product ID: 17327230
Desertcart purchases this item on your behalf and handles shipping, customs, and support to Isle of Man.
Previously the domain of large factories and certain old-school fabricators, power hammers are now available to hot rodders and collector-car restoration shops. As more and more fabricators consider the purchase of a power hammer there comes the need for a book explaining which hammer to buy and how best to use this fabricator's super tool. If it takes two hours to make a quarter panel for a Ferrari on an English Wheel, the same panel can be crafted on a power hammer in less than 30 minutes by a fabricator with a good working knowledge of this reborn technology. Author Longyard includes detailed step-by-step photos of well-trained and well-known craftsmen working with both steel and aluminum. He takes each project from the first planning session to the finished piece. The projects include both shrinking and stretching, plus the why and how of using a buck to guarantee accuracy. Review: Great overview of Power Hammers - Interesting book on a specific specialty tool. Long yards book shows power hammers use in conjuction with real projects. Lots of pictures provide a visual retrospect of power hammers use Review: sailler learing - it grate book for learning and build one

Not instructional
I bought this book expecting to learn how to run my new Baileigh reciprocating hammer. But this book just like many sheet metal instructional books follows professional panel beaters and their step by step projects with nothing but pictures and a short text explaining the picture. That’s it. At least Ed Bar published his books with explanation and theory. This author just follows other people’s projects.

This is a great book for anyone who wants to learn more about metal shaping and especially if you are considering buying a power-hammer. The author has a talent for opening your eyes to metal shaping ideas that you may not have considered possible. The book has a great line up of talent and real world projects. One of the best books I have read lately on the subject of shaping metal!

The book is OK. It doesn't go into the "how to" detail that I had hoped for though.
