Mahl stick is made of solid Oak wood with wooden ball at tip that is covered in felt with sturdy cord tie. Oak is oiled for protection. Hand made in the USA. The Mahl stick is an invaluable tool used by painters when doing fine detail art work and lettering. The use of a Mahl stick prevents smudging surrounding artwork while providing a brace for consistent steadiness and balance. This is especially useful for artists with unsteadiness as much more accuracy and precision can be attained with this classic tool. The resting end of the Mahl stick is padded with a felt cover so as not to damage or scratch art surfaces including glass. The Mahl stick can be used by both right and left handed artists. To use the Mahl Stick: Rest the padded end of the stick onto art surface for which you plan to paint positioning your Mahl stick accordingly. Rest the side of your lower palm onto the middle of the Mahl stick with paint brush pre-loaded and ready while holding site side of stick elevated above artwork. Begin painting. Move the elevated hand and padded end of the Mahl stick freely with work flow.
