My dog is known to chew holes in his bed. Will this bed withstand a dog's need to pacifiy/chew?

I'm not sure if this bed can withstand the effects of a full-grown dog. My pup (standard poodle) is now only five months old and has been chewing on it for the last three months, but that's with puppy teeth. The bed is still intact, tho I think some threads may have been pulled. BTW, my dog LOVES this bed. He plays in it like a kid with his own fort.

Can the blue bottom be removed?

Yes,the bottom of the bed is independent and removable !!!

In addition to the removable pillow cover, can you also remove the cover for the base? My dog likes to pacify/chew the bolster rim of his bed.

The base cover also can remove,and it is in order to wash it,and you'd better not let your dog chew the bolster,because this action will Damaged the bed bolster.
