John Mellis Apiaries Scottish Ling Heather Honey, 12 Ounce Jar

The flavor of this honey is indescribable! The texture is like spun honey butter! I really didn’t know what to expect when ordering this honey for the first time, but it certainly will not be my last time! It is great on anything one decides to put it on or even great right off the spoon! The flavor stays in your mouth for a few minutes and allows one to savor it! I don’t know what the heather flower smells like, but this flavor sets this honey above all others in my opinion! One really has to try this to know what I am raving about! I will most certainly make this a staple in my kitchen from now on! The price is affordable considering what one gets in return! A wonderful mouth experience!

I have never been a lover of honey but this stuff is fabulous. I ordered it to try when I bought some Scottish Oatmeal and it tastes different from any honey I've ever eaten. It doesn't have the heavy sweet taste of tradition store-bought honey but is lighter, sweet and you can taste the hint of the flowers, lime, and raspberry in it. It is wonderful and worth the money for me. I will continue to purchase this sweet treat. I will give a hint when purchasing. This is the second time I have ordered this. The first time I received it in an envelope with no padding and the item was broken. I received a refund from Amazon, of course, but was torn because I really wanted more honey, but didn't want a repeat of the same. So, I purchased two jars this time which came in individual boxes, in a small Amazon box, delivered by Amazon. Again, there was no packing at all in the box, but luckily both jars were fine. I'm not sure if Amazon is trying to give up plastic to save the planet by not using packing pillows but they could certainly do a better job by backing with popcorn or paper to secure items, especially glass jars. So, when in doubt--buy 2! Hope this helps because the honey is worth it!! Update 12/20--I have purchased this 2 times since and again, the best honey money can buy. But Amazon packing is terrible. Both arrived in envelopes with NO PACKAGING MATERIAL!! Come on Amazon, you can do better. Remarkably, they arrived unscathed; I have no idea how other than angelic intervention because this honey is heavenly.

I have searched high and low in all countries for all types of honey. I've done my research on which type is the best. After reading that Manuka was the best, I started to try some but saw how pricey it was. So I chose the next best thing which was Scottish honey. It comes from clean air, clean land, and happy bees. You can't ask for better honey. And it's moderately priced. I did more research and found out that scientifically biologically, Scottish honey is better for you than manuka. Manuka comes in second best, but pretty close. John Mellis had some tough times with rains causing the bees to be a bit sparse, but they bounced back after a skipped season and now he's back to selling this great honey. It tastes of a light floral hint, very sweet, and with it being unprocessed, it's thick and spreadable. I use it mainly in my hot teas but I've guiltily dipped fried chicken wings in it and OMG...seriously...I couldn't ask for a better taste! It was SO delicious! I will always buy from Mr. Mellis. He's stationed in Scotland but is good hearted enough to send Americans his wonderful honey!! God bless that man!! I HIGHLY recommend this honey. I have health problems that require the benefits of unprocessed honey. This one is the one.
